Estate Planning

When you need help protecting your loved ones, choose a law firm that focuses its practice on your needs.

The attorneys and assistants in our Estate Section know that preparing for or experiencing the loss of a loved one is an emotionally challenging time. Our attorneys represent both estate-planning and estate-administration clients. They assist estate-planning clients with one principal goal in mind – assuring that, at their deaths, clients’ assets are passed to their beneficiaries, as efficiently and effortlessly as possible.

At the other end of the spectrum, our attorneys assist executors, personal representatives and heirs in ensuring that their deceased loved ones’ estates are administered as efficiently as possible, in compliance with state and federal requirements. The firm services a variety of individuals, including high-net-worth clients, most of the rest of us, the disabled and the needy in this area of practice.  We can help in:

  • Analyzing clients’ assets for asset-protection purposes.
  • Employing trusts, gifting and other planning tools to minimize estate tax exposure.
  • Drafting wills, trusts, deeds, gifting documents, business organizational documents or agreements, or other instruments necessary to fulfill clients’ needs.
  • Assisting high-net-worth clients with tools customized to fit their particular needs.
  • Opening guardianships as appropriate and assisting guardians with any reporting as required by statute.
  • Working closely with clients’ tax, financial and other professional advisors to assure coordination between their various efforts.
  • Working with Special Needs Trusts to provide for the disabled and/or indigent as needed.
  • Representing executors and personal representatives in estate administration from beginning to end, including filing all necessary documents, distributing assets and paying creditors, resolving any disputes or disagreements among heirs and/or creditors, and ultimately closing the estate.
  • Representing heirs or beneficiaries in ensuring that their interests are protected, as needed.
