James L. Fischer, Jr.

James L. Fischer, Jr., (“Jamie”) is one of our experienced attorneys. His practice areas, include auto and trucking litigation, premises liability, construction litigation. With 35 years (and counting) in the profession, Fischer brings extensive experience to his practice, representing clients in civil litigation matters and insurance defense cases.

He received his undergraduate degree from Indiana University Southeast, where he was named Outstanding Student in Political Science for the academic year 1985-86. In 1989,he graduated from the University of Louisville School of Law after receiving a law scholarship.

Jamie served as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for Clark County, Indiana, from 1990 to 1998, handling major felony cases and gaining extensive jury trial experience. He also served as a part-time prosecutor handling narcotics cases from 2013 to 2015 at the start of the Heroin crisis.

Prior to joining our firm, Jamie spent twenty (20) years in private practice handling civil litigation and insurance defense at Boehl Stopher & Graves, LLP. His practice areas included a wide variety of civil matters, including professional liability defense of architects, engineers and construction companies. He gained extensive experience in fire litigation, premises liability, auto and trucking litigation.

Jamie is admitted to practice law in both Indiana and Kentucky, as well as in the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of Indiana and the Western and Eastern Districts of Kentucky. He has successfully represented clients in the appellate courts of both Indiana and Kentucky, including oral arguments before the Kentucky Supreme Court.

Fischer has been an active member of several professional associations, including the Indiana State and Kentucky Bar Associations, the Defense Research Institute, the Defense Trial Counsel Indiana, and the Kentucky Defense Counsel. He was also previously a Barrister in the Sherman Minton American Inn of Court.

Jamie and his wife, Robin, a schoolteacher, live in Jeffersonville with their two dogs. They have two adult children, Brian and Sarah. In his free time, Jamie enjoys cooking, playing the guitar and following his favorite sports teams.
